Forest Fires and How They Trigger
Forest fires in many parts of the world like Australia and America has been a major cause of destruction of trees and natural life. Each year 100 hectares of forest are burnt to ashes causing serious damage to environment and property, and is a challenge to firefighting departments. Sometimes these fires cause loss of human lives and property as well. Most of the time, the cause of fire is not found and warm weather is blamed for triggering of the fires.
This is of great concern, because each year so much of the planted land is converted into ashes leaving behind scenes of destruction. I would like to bring my observations to your consideration in identifying the cause of triggering these forest fires.
It came to my observation while traveling on the motorway in dry weather, that I found patches of burnt grass and bushes on roadsides. It was strange for me and shocking at the same time to see how these fires could have been triggered on a long stretch of motorway where nobody can hardly get off their vehicles, and the apparent cause seems to be the non-human. As the night fell, I found one or two sparkles rolling as my cars passed them. Later I came to know that there were cigarette buds which were not put off and thrown by travelers. As my car passed these cigarette buds, they started rolling with wind, which was caused by a moving vehicle and at the same time lighted strongly.
If somebody throws a burning cigarette out of the window of their vehicle, what will happen next is shocking. Any vehicle coming afterwards will cause wind which will make cigarettes burn more and when it comes in contact with dried grass or bushes it will be enough to trigger a fire.
The fact that forest fires in parts of Australia and America often happened in dry and windy weather also support my argument. Now we can not rule out that the cause of triggering these deadly fires is a human factor. So being responsible citizens every one should take care and do not throw the burning cigarette buds out the vehicles. All vehicles manufactured today do have cigarette boxes and if you have one do use it because you have paid for that thing and save the environment from such destruction.
